Clothianidin is widely used to control Homoptera on rice, fruit trees, vegetables, tea, cotton and other crops due to its flexible application. It mainly controls pests such as thrips, coleoptera and some lepidoptera, and has better systemic absorption and permeability than other similar insecticides. Clothianidin, imidacloprid and thiamethoxam have higher knockdown toxicity to adults of B. leek, which are 5.75, 3.86 and 3.51 times that of avermectin respectively; their toxicity to eggs of B. leek is lower; the toxicity to 2nd and 4th instar larvae is the highest with clothianidin, which is 27.00 times and 25.23 times that of avermectin respectively. At present, the main use direction in the market is the special medicine for leek maggots and garlic maggots.
