Imidacloprid is a nitromethylene systemic insecticide, which is the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor receptor. It interferes with the motor nervous system of pests and causes the chemical signal transmission to fail. There is no cross-resistance problem. It is used to control piercing-sucking mouthparts pests and their resistant strains. Imidacloprid is a new generation of chlorinated nicotine insecticide, which has a broad spectrum, high efficiency, low toxicity, and low residue. Pests are not easy to develop resistance, and it has multiple effects of contact killing, stomach poisoning and systemic absorption. After the pests come into contact with the agent, the normal conduction of the central nervous system is blocked, causing them to be paralyzed and die. It has good rapid effect, with a high prevention effect one day after the drug is applied, and the residual period is as long as about 25 days. The efficacy is positively correlated with temperature. The higher the temperature, the better the insecticidal effect. It is mainly used to control piercing-sucking mouthparts pests.
1. Foliar application effectively controls the black-tailed leafhopper, planthoppers (brown planthopper, gray planthopper, white-backed planthopper), aphids (green peach aphid, cotton aphid), and thrips (greenhouse thrips); furthermore, its efficacy against whiteflies, rice stem borers, rice leaf beetles, and rice weevils surpasses that of standard reference insecticides such as buprofezin and etofenprox.
2. Soil treatment (at a rate of 1.25 mg/kg) provides long-lasting control of green peach aphids on cabbage and bean aphids on broad beans.
3. Granular application (at a rate of 1 g a.i./kg in seedling trays) demonstrates significant efficacy against rice leafhoppers and planthoppers.
4. Seed treatment (at a rate of 1 g a.i./kg) provides effective control against bean aphids and cotton aphids for a duration of at least five weeks.
This insecticide is widely utilized for pest control in major field crops-including rice, wheat, cotton, maize, potatoes, and sugar beets-as well as in horticultural crops such as citrus, deciduous fruit trees, and vegetables. It is suitable for use in both early-season, long-term preventive control programs and later-stage foliar spray applications.
