Effect:
5-ALA is a new type of photoactivated pesticide with high environmental compatibility and selectivity, and is widely used in the agricultural field.

Therefore, it is not simply a biological metabolic intermediate, but also participates in the regulation of plant growth and development, has physiological activities similar to plant hormones, and can be used as a plant growth regulator in agricultural production.
(2) Green herbicide Herbicides produced using 5-ALA can kill dicotyledonous weeds, but are harmless to monocotyledonous crops such as cereals, wheat, and barley, and have a selective weed control effect.
There are two mechanisms of action: The first is to inhibit the gene expression of GluTR and prevent the synthesis of 5-ALA, so that the plant eventually dies due to lack of 5-ALA. 5-ALA synthesis in mammals does not go through the C5 pathway, so the use of this type of herbicide will not have adverse effects on the human body.
The second type can relieve the regulatory mechanism of 5-ALA synthesis and promote the large-scale synthesis of 5-ALA. For example, acifluorferr methyl can inhibit the synthesis of heme in plants, resulting in the accumulation of 5-ALA and porphyrin compounds, inducing peroxidation under light.
(3) Pesticides can cause biochemical metabolic imbalance in a variety of pests such as houseflies and cockroaches, causing convulsions and even death in the pests. There are also studies using porphyrin insecticides with 5-ALA as the main ingredient to treat Chinese rice grasshoppers in Jinyuan District, Taiyuan. Within 7 days, all male insects in the treatment group died, while the number of male insects in the control group was about half, and the number of female insects that died did not differ significantly at low concentrations. The principle is that 5-ALA can produce reactive oxygen when activated, which can convert sunlight into ray insecticides through the photosynthesis process of plants or trigger the chemical synthesis of pest cells to kill insects. This study shows that it is a natural, non-toxic substance that is biodegradable and does not cause pests to develop resistance. A new type of green insecticide can be developed.
